Description

  • Parcel-gilt and silver-wire inlaid-bronze
the baluster body of rectangular section, inlaid to each side with a strapwork panel below a ruyi-head collar, the front and back face centred by a gilt-bronze lion mask handle suspending a loose ring and the sides set with tall S-shaped ruyi-head handles, all supported on four tall sabre legs, the domed cover with ruyi-head panels reserved on a pierced and gilded ground of bats amidst scrolling vines, surmounted by a gilt-bronze qilin

Condition

The censer and cover are in very good condition with the exception of a very slight bend to one of the ruyi handles, a minute nick to the edge of the cover, and very minor scratches to the patination.
