each painted with a scene of a solitary figure in a lush mountainous landscape, with trees and craggy rocks obscuring grand dwellings, waterfalls and towering peaks in the distance, one signed Yeting with one seal reading Wang yin, the other Inscribed dangu feiquan (waterfall in the mountain valley) and signed Wang Ping shi Yeting with one seal partially reading Ping, framed (2)

Acquired in China in the 1960s and thence by descent.

Both plaques are in good condition overall. They have not been examined outside its frame.

Catalogue Note

Wang Yeting (1884-1942) is one of the Eight Friends of Zhushan, a group of porcelain artists active during the late 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. Zhushan is in the vicinity of Jingdezhen, which was the location of the Imperial kilns for two dynasties.
