the body decorated with enamels of yellow, green and iron red depicting bouquets of flowers amongst leafy flowerhead scrolls between bands of ruyi-heads and upright lappet bands, its waisted cylindrical neck decorated en suite between ruyi-head borders and overlapping leaves, the shoulders with a band of bajixiang amidst lotus scrolls, applied on either side with a pair of bamboo-form handles in iron red, apocryphal six-character Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue

Acquired in Paris in the 1970s.

Condition

A section of the rim has been broken into a few pieces and restored by the Metropolitan Museum. There is an associated crack approx. 3 1/2 in. (8.8 cm) long extending into the neck. There is wear to the gilding on the handles and expected light surface wear overall.
