Description

  • jade
comprising a white and russet jade openwork carving of grapes on leafy vines; a black and gray carving of two dogs; and a yellow and russet jade reticulated plaque of a dragon amidst blossoming lotus (3) 

Provenance

Acquired in China in the 1920s or 30s and thence by descent.

Condition

The jade carving of grapes and two dogs are in overall good condition. The reticulated plaque has an approximately 1/2 in. (1.3 cm) by 1/8 in. (0.3 cm) polished chip to one corner on the reverse. There is an approximately 3/4 in. (1.9 cm) by 3/4 in. (1.9 cm) section chipped and slightly polished from the rim edge to center on the reverse side.
