Condition

Overall the condition is good with some minor dirt to the crevices. There is some wear to the glaze at the edges and extremities and some more, stable crazing to the glaze. There is a stable hairline fissure to the drapery just above the outstretched hand of the female. The male rider is missing an attribute from his proper right hand.

Catalogue Note

This group is derived from the model of Hylonome Restrained by Bertos's gifted follower Agostino Fasolato (Avery, op. cit. no. 225). A similar ceramic, but with a different base, was sold at Sotheby's, Paris, 16th October 2007, lot 141.
