Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good. There is dirt and some minor wear to the surface consistent with age with some whiting to the crevices. There is a nick to the proper right shin and the spear is slightly bent.

Another example of this model, one of the rarer models attributed to Fanelli, is in the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv. no. A.119-1910).  A further cast was sold as part of the Evill/ Frost Collection in these rooms on 16 June 2011, lot 334.
