Condition

The canvas has been strip-lined along all four tacking edges. UV light reveals some areas of retouching in the sky, notably: - a circa 18 by 6cm area in the right third - an 8 by 7cm area to the right of this - a handful of smaller areas around the windmill - strokes along the extreme edges - a thick uneven varnish over the land Apart from a web of hairline craquelure, most of it relatively faint, overall this work is in good condition. Held in a decorative gold-painted wood and plaster frame. The colours in the original are richer and deeper than in the catalogue illustration.
