Condition

The canvas has been relined. There are strokes of retouching along the upper & left extreme edges addressing frame rubbing visible under UV light, and some scattered spots of retouching notably in the boat in the lower centre, the lower left corner, and in the sky in the upper centre. Apart from some areas of craquelure, notably horizontally in the white pigments in the upper centre, and around the arch in the rock in the middle distance, the general appearance of this work is good. Held in a decorative gold-painted wood and plaster frame.
