Condition

There is some light brown staining in the plaster in the Shoes, though this is likely to be original. Overall this work is in good condition. There are three cracks in the plaster in the Toy, all three visible in the catalogue illustration: one extending from the left edge (as viewed in the catalogue illustration) along the handle to the heel of the shoe, another from the lower edge also to the heel, and one from the upper right corner to the front of the shoe, with some associated scattered flaking of the plaster along the cracks. It appears that there are two small soldiers missing in this work, corresponding to the small indentations visible in the catalogue illustration. These are visible in the illustration of the work in the Caniaris monograph by Michael Fehr.
