Condition

Original canvas, slightly slack on its stretcher. UV light reveals some minor retouching, notably to a horizontal approx. 20cm repaired tear below and to the left of the sea, and to an upside-down 'T'-shaped repaired tear approx. 3 by 6cm just below this, with a few other scattered minor spots. Apart from a slightly yellowed varnish, overall this painting is in good condition. Held in a decorative gold-painted wood and plaster frame. The colours are slightly warmer than in the catalogue illustration.
