Catalogue Note
A fine signed photograph of Mark Twain inscribed to the writer Josefa Schneider von Arno (1850 - 1909). Twain spent twenty months in Vienna from 1897-99, where he was lionised by the press and met many of the city's notable inhabitants, including Freud. He wrote a number of articles about his time there, and set his final (incomplete) novel The Mysterious Stranger in medieval Austria.
