the brass dial with silvered chapter ring signed John Wise London, the 8-day movement with four pillars and anchor escapement.  Works and case associated, alterations to case.

Condition

Works: Spandrels to works re-gilded. case: The domed part of the hood a later addition; the marquetry to the case most probably later; some small losses to the marquetry to bottom of the door; the bottom of the case at the pedestal with warped sides and losses to ebony; the bottom plinth re-built; the interior with some later blocks to stabilize warpage; overall with some chips and nicks to edges and sides and to veneers (mainly to base).
