Catalogue Note

"In Tyson's work, the demiurgical elements of Pollock's approach is indeed taken to the limit and at the same time turned into absolute nature. Nature is returned to nature, the painterly process is radically de-subjectified. It is no longer an inventio, an observation or a relationship between the painter and the canvas that creates the sensation but the substance of the colour – the matter (as opposed to material) as such, and thus nature itself. Nature, then, it the sole 'event.'"
