Catalogue Note
The Helen Bamber Foundation supports and counsels men, women and children who have been tortured and trafficked.
Our teams help to mend what has been broken in our clients. We do this in a safe environment, where our expertise and specialised knowledge enable survivors to rebuild their lives.
The stories we hear display the worst, but also the best of humanity. When Sadya from Ethiopia came to us she was deeply traumatised. She had witnessed the murder of her husband and son and then she was abducted, attacked and raped. We persuaded the Home Office to grant her permission to stay in the UK and provided the space she needed to grieve. We helped her come to terms with what she had experienced and reduce the horrific flashbacks and panic attacks.
We helped her to think about her future and find hope again as a teacher and mother to her daughters. We know that cruelty like this will not stop, but since 2005 we have helped over 3,500 men, women and children. With your help we will continue to be here for those who need us.
The Helen Bamber Foundation would like to extend its sincerest thanks to the brilliant, bighearted artists who have donated works to this auction. Every penny raised will make a big difference. We are also very grateful to Blackwall Green insurance brokers and John Jones framers for their fantastic service. Our biggest thank you must of course go to Anish Kapoor and his team for their inspiration, hard work and commitment to this event. The Helen Bamber Foundation is fortunate to have such wonderful friends.
