Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is warmer and richer in the original, with more grey undertones to the whiter areas of paint throughout. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is minor canvas draw in the top right hand corner. Upon very close inspection, there is some extremely fine paint shrinkage to the black pigment in the top left hand quadrant. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.

Catalogue Note

"Yan Pei Ming is no abstract painter. He goes to the limits of "pure" painting, but remains true to figuration. In the end all his paintings are also self-portraits, which document the artist's inner moods and feelings."
