The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There are some light rub marks in all four corners and intermittently along the edges. Upon close inspection, there is some craquelure to the black pigment towards the centre of the lower right hand quadrant. There are a few further hairline cracks to some of the thicker areas of white pigment around the figures' heads. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.

Catalogue Note
"The hierarchy which has located the sky at the top and the earth at the bottom is, in any case, only a convention. We have got used to it, but we don't have to believe in it. The only thing that interests me is the question of how I can carry on painting pictures."
