A WHITE JADE 'QILIN AND BAT' PAPERWEIGHT QING DYNASTY, 18TH / 19TH CENTURY

Estimate
90,000 - 120,000 HKD
bidding is closed

Description

the recumbent one-horned mythical beast with a broad head and a divided bushy tail, crouching on his forepaws turning sharply as it grasps a bat with outstretched wings hovering near him, the greyish-white translucent stone with white mottling and a smooth polish

Condition

The right eyebrow of the qilin has possibly been slightly polished down. Otherwise the overall condition is quite good. The actual colour is quite close to the illustration in the catalogue.
