Description
- Antonietta Brandeis
- The Ponte Vecchio, Florence
- signed ABrandeis lower right
- oil on board
- 17 by 23.5cm., 6¾ by 9¼in.
Condition
The board is flat and even. Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered minor spots of retouching, notably in the water above the signature and in the lower centre of the sky (the latter have discoloured slightly and are visible in the catalogue illustration). Apart from some very faint lines of paint shrinkage, visible only under close inspection primarily in the left and right edges of the sky, and a few spots of frame abrasion along the extreme upper and lower edges (visible in the catalogue illustration) overall this work is in good condition, and is ready to hang.
Held in a decorative gilt frame, with foliate and beaded ornaments.
The catalogue illustration is overall accurate, however the pigments are less red overall in reality.
