Condition
The canvas has been laid onto a flat and even metal board. Ultraviolet light reveals quite extensive areas of retouching in the right two thirds of the sky, with some further scattered strokes in the left third and scattered spots in the water. There are some faint lines of hairline craquelure, and the signature has been slightly rubbed, notably the lower half and the penultimate 'c'.
Held in a decorative gilt frame, with a black-painted outer liner.
The catalogue illustration is overall accurate, however the blues are somewhat richer, and the work slightly less yellow overall.
