Condition
Original canvas. Ultra-violet light reveals some minor, carefully applied retouching, notably one thin vertical 4cm line in her dress, and another thin vertical line in the water in the centre of the composition, with a handful of other tiny scattered spots. Apart from a pattern of hairline craquelure (visible in the catalogue illustration), overall this work is in good condition, clean and ready to hang.
The greens are somewhat richer in the original than in the catalogue illustration.
Held in a decorative modern gilt frame with a white-painted inner accent.

According to Helmut Krause, the present work was painted circa 1914-18 on the shores of lake Ammer in Bavaria. Holzhausen is visible in the distance.
