The canvas has not been lined. There is a very faint stretcher mark parallel to the four edges. There is a handful of spots of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably a spot in the leftmost pillar to a repaired puncture (patched on the reverse), spots around the leaves of the plant, below the capital of the rightmost pillar, and in the cream-coloured hanging cloth to the left of this. As in other works by the artist, some of the grey pigments in the architecture and floor fluoresce green under ultraviolet light, however these certainly appear to be the artist's original pigments and not retouching. Overall this work is in good condition, and is ready to hang. Held in a decorative gilt, ornamented frame. The catalogue illustration is overall accurate, although the work is somewhat less yellow in reality.
