STRUCTURE Original canvas which undulates slightly. There are a few small surface abrasions and spots of paint loss along the lower edge. There are one or two areas of lifting painting in the right leg of the figure in the foreground. Within some of the thick areas of impasto there are a few cases of paint loss and lifting, some of which have retouchings visible to the naked eye; otherwise the work appears in good overall condition with rich impasto. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT Under UV light there appear to be a few minor signs of retouching corresponding to some of the above mentioned areas of paint loss. FRAME Held in a large dark-stained wood frame.
