STRUCTURE
The canvas has been relined, otherwise the work appears in good overall condition.
ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
UV light reveals retouchings in places along each edge. There are scattered areas of flecked retouchings across the backround, predominantly in the upper right quadrant. Further flecked retouchings in the space under the table and along the shelf near centre of right edge. There is a diagonal line of retouching extending from the lower right corner, approx. 7in long, which may relate to an old tear, and similarly for another smaller line, approx 2in. long, by the chair near the left hand edge, with a small area of retouching next to it.
FRAME
Held in a dark-coloured moulded frame with a gilt border, clean and ready to hang.
