Condition
STRUCTURE
The work has been executed on a thickly weaved canvas, original. One or two minor areas of craquelure in the sky upper right, only visible upon close inspection. Appears to be a small old repaired tear, approx. 1in., above the right-hand roof. The work is dirty and should benefit well from cleaning; otherwise in good overall condition.
ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
Under UV light there appears to be an area of retouching which corresponds to the above mentioned tear.
FRAME
Held in a carved wood frame.

Catalogue Note
Deeply atmospheric, this evocative work may be the Storm in Connemara picture listed in S.B Kenney, op. cit., no. 605 and dated c.1923-4, but the whereabouts of which was unknown at the time of publication. Judged stylistically, this picture must also date from the mid-1920s.
