STRUCTURE The canvas has been relined. There is a pattern of craquelure in the headland and a faint, vertical line of cracking along the lower right edge. There are a few discoloured light blue lines in the sky along the upper edge, and another horizontal line in the sky near centre of right edge. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT Under UV light there appear to be areas of infilling to the above mentioned craquelure in the headland. Also retouching to the above mentioned light blue lines in the sky, which may both relate to old tears. Other isolated spots of retouching in a few places about the canvas. FRAME Held in a gilt composite frame.
