Lincoln, Abraham, sixteenth President

Autograph document signed ("Stuart & Lincoln pq"), 1 page (12 1/4 x 7 1/2 in.; 313 x 190 mm), [Springfield, 16 April 1839], about 280 words in Lincoln's hand; lightly browned, some marginal chipping and repair. Matted and framed with a large color lithographed portrait of Lincoln.

A good example of a Lincoln legal paper, signed with one of the rarest forms of his autograph. Lincoln here files a writ of attachment in Sangamon Circuit Court against William H. Wernwag on behalf of Moses Hoffman. Hoffman's suit claimed that he was owed $128.65 by Wernwag for his work on the Sangamon RIver Bridge.
