Description

  • leather, silk, gilt brass
of concertina form, with a gilt-brass lock to front engraved with foliate motifs, gilt-embossed pattern on the underside of flap, the leather facings decorated throughout with metal-thread designs consisting of leafy scrolls, arabesques and strapwork, embroidered inscription to the front concealed beneath the flap, interior lined with salmon-pink silk, with old label: 'Léon Gruel, Relieur d'Art, Objets et Livres Anciens, 418 Rue St Honoré, Paris'

Condition

In fairly good condition, wear on the leather and silk interior, particularly on external edges consistent with use and age, some stains on silk, as viewed.
