Description

  • 41cm, 16 1/8 in high
the barrel carved in high relief with lions attacking Ottoman travellers, the silver lid and base rim embossed and chased with further lively hunting scenes interspersed with scrolls, silver caryatid handle terminating in a horse's hoof, the finial as a warrior bearing the double-headed eagle emblem of the Holy Roman Empire on his shield, earlier German prestige marks  

Condition

finial knight lacking sword, traces of repair on silver base, ivory in good condition, small crack to one lion's manne and filled crack above.
