Description
- mahogany lead brass
- 60cm. high, 68cm. wide, 64cm. deep; 1ft. 11¾in., 2ft. 3in., 2ft. 1¼in.
with a fluted lid centred on a cone carved finial, the panelled sides with foliate cast brass mouldings and with outset reeded baluster uprights upon turned feet with brass caps and castors

Condition
Good overall condition. Excellent colour and patination. Some minor chips around keyhole. Minor warping to lid. Minor age cracks to back which do ot significantly detract.

A wine cooler of very similar form but without a lid commissoned by John Lloyd Wynne ( d.1862) of Coed Coch, Denbighshire from Gillows was sold Christie`s London, 18th April 1996, lot 231.
A wine cooler with a fluted cover and carved finial similar to the present example is illustrated in Ralph Edwards and Percy Macquoid, The Dictionary of English Furniture, London, rev`d ed., 1954, vol. 1, p.223. This example from the Montague Meyer family collection was sold Christie`s London, 24th April 1980, lot 57.
