Catalogue Note
"Avec la plus stricte économie de moyens, cet artiste a créé une miniature à la présence monumentale" (Vogel, 1986, p. 46). Cette superbe poulie de métier à tisser se distingue également par la rareté de son iconographie, "à la fois énigmatique et provocante" (Vogel, idem). Avant d'entrer dans la collection de Carlo Monzino, elle a appartenu à Pierre Meauzé, conservateur au musée des Arts d'Afrique et d'Océanie (Paris), qui dans son ouvrage Art Nègre, en 1967, défendit magistralement la dimension esthétique des arts africains.
