Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is lighter in the original. The work is executed on a sheet of cream wove paper, glued to the mount at the upper right and left corners and at the lower right corner. Two artist's pinholes located along the upper edge are only visible under very close inspection. A linor dot of oxidation (approx.0.6 cm) located along the right edge, 3.5 cm from teh extremity of the upper right corner is only visible under very close inspection. This work is in excellent condition.

« La technique – dessin à la plume au trait – me portait par force à des réalisations moins chargées de matérialité que les pâtes épaisses utilisées dans les peintures. Mais elle ne fut sûrement pas seule à orienter ces nouveaux travaux vers des aspects qui au lieu de suggérer de lourdes terres comme les tableaux antérieurs suggéraient plutôt des éléments extrêmement légers et immatériels tels que fines dentelles, givres et filigranes.
