Description
- A Persian Polychrome Tile Panel

- approx. 88 by 40 in. 223.5 by 101.6 cm
composed of numerous square and rectangular tiles painted with an elaborate court banquet scene, a landscape of trees and flowers visible through the windows in the background, scrolling plants and panels with animals in the remaining upper and lower borders, one tile inscribed within an escutcheon, probably with the name of King Khusraw; unmounted, a number of tiles fragmented.
Provenance
acquired in London by Stella Fischbach and her decorator Harold Schwartz, and then installed in her apartment at 4 Sutton Place, New York, N.Y., in the early 1950s.
