- An Egyptian Green Stone Heart Scarab
- Green stone
- Length 1 11/16 in. 4.2 cm.
with finely carved detail, the base incised with 8 lines of inscription, probably from Chapter 30B of the Book of the Dead, the hard stone with speckled inclusions.
Provenance
acquired by the present owner in the late 1950s/early 1960s from a nephew or grand-nephew of Theodore Davis
Condition
Top excellent; incised inscription on bottom a little worn and apparently filled with a black substance at some point to make it more readable.
