  • Two Greek Terracotta Heads
  • Terracotta
  • Heights 2 7/8 and 1 9/16 in. 7.3 and 4 cm.
comprising a fragmentary Archaic terracotta head of a goddess with smiling mouth and long almond-shaped eye, and a Hellenistic terracotta head of a young woman, a veil covering her hair.

acquired in the 1960s or early 1970s, probably from Wladimir Rosenbaum, Ascona, then by descent to the present owner, for the first

Condition

What remains of the Archaic head is very good and as shown; the Hellenistic head is also very good and as shown, note small chip to nose and nicks to drapery. Both heads are less red than the photos in the catalogue.
