Catalogue Note

In form and scale, these magnificent candlesticks relate to a pair of tombak candlesticks in the collection of Nasser D. Khalili (Geneva 1996, pp.38-39, no.7, and Allan and Raby 1982, p.46, no.33). In both cases, they are constructed in two sections but the present pair are in a remarkably complete state in that they retain their candle trays.
