Catalogue Note

These elegant candlesticks are of unusually narrow proportions and with a waisted base. Their saucer-like drip tray is a familiar feature on brass candlesticks of this period (Allan and Raby 1982, p.47 , no.41 and 42). The complex mouldings along the profile of the neck are more reminiscent of the taller form of candlestick and torchstand of this period often used alongside the squater form (Geneva 1996, p.36, no.5).
