Audubon F.R.S.F.L.S.', a proof apart from the edition by Havell and before the plate and issue numbers, on wove paper with the J. Whatman 1836 watermark, framed

Condition

With margins, the print is in generally good condition overall, except for a skillfully repaired tear through the wing at left measuring 4 3/4 inches, backed with Japan, and a further small diagonal tear across the extreme lower right corner (3/4 in.). The sheet with pale traces of infrequent fox marks, and additional discoloration at the upper sheet edges, a small circular paper loss in the background upper right and a narrow line of scattered rust flecks at upper left. The verso with uneven discoloration and scattered foxing, a few areas of minor skinning. Additional tiny losses and other imperfections at the extreme sheet edges.
