Catalogue Note

Peter Tillou states that this pair of portraits are a "rare pair of transitional Ammi Phillips portraits" of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Spraker of Sprakersville, New York; acquired from the original family descendants.  Daniel Spraker was the son of Joseph (Jost) Spraker, born in 1765, he died in 1800.
