Four hand-colored lithographs, the first and third with touches of gum arabic, 1855-1870, the second published by N. Currier, the others published by Currier and Ives, on wove papers, framed (4 prints)
Condition
The Express Train: The print is in good condition with margins. Minor imperfections in the sky include two areas of surface abrasion and several areas of pale discoloration. The sheet with pale mat and light- stain, occasional foxing, and creasing throughout. The edges with several nicks, and a tiny tear at top. The verso with additional discoloration and other minor imperfections.
High Pressure Steamboat Mayflower: The print is in good condition with wide margins. The sheet with foxing and scuff marks, two pin holes at the plate edge, the margins with mat stain, areas of surface soiling and stray pencil marks.
The Life of A Fireman: With wide margins, the sheet with creasing throughout and associated ink losses and occasional small repaired tears, discoloration overall visible primarily in the margins, the margins with areas of skinning, surface soiling, and the occasional fox mark. The sheet is linen-backed.
The Night Express: The print is in good condition with wide margins. A window of light stain visible in the margins, darkest at mat opening, and several small creases (the most conspicuous at bottom center margin and measuring 5/8 inch). The margins and verso with occasional pale fox marks, the bottom margin verso with the remains of tape.
