Catalogue Note

Hannah Fairfield worked as an artist in the Woodstock, Connecticut area and was known for her portraits. She studied under Alexander Francis, and later in New York under Alexander Robertson. She married Franklin Nichols (1805-1890), a banker from Norwich, Connecticut on October 17, 1839.
