Condition

The following condition report has been prepared by Julius Lowy Art Conservation: The artwork is executed in watercolor on paper which is age-appropriately oxidized with age. There is a Japanese tissue paper patch at the right edge covering a previously mended tear, an additional mended tear at the lower left corner and a score at the lower left. Additionally there are Japanese tissue paper and scotch tape hinges at the upper corners. The verso bears the writing: the great game for the rulership of the world. There is visible mat burn along the edges of the painting and staining at the lower right of center and at the top center. Upon visual inspection, there appears to be embedded dirt with light surface dirt above. The painting is signed and inscribed with the artist's signature skull at the lower right: C.M. Russell.
