Condition
The following condition report has been prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation: This work has been loosely stretched onto a fixed strainer. It is a little unevenly stretched but the paint layer is stable and in very good condition. There are a few areas that read strongly under ultraviolet light, in the red fabric behind and beneath the sunflower on the left. However, it seems that this is original paint that merely reacts differently under ultraviolet light. The remainder of the picture appears to be un-retouched. In the lower right there are two signatures, one in blue and one in red. Both of these signatures seem to be original even though they both show quite strongly under ultraviolet light. It seems that Stella favored the blue signature over the red and slightly obscured the latter.
