Catalogue Note

This model was designed by Greta Magnusson Grossman for the famed downtown Los Angeles department store Barker Brothers.  The company had a long tradition of working with emerging furniture designers, and the early success with Grossman's designs led to her appointment as a consultant for the firm.  Featured in the store’s Modern Shop, her furniture and lighting designs were paired with other leading modernists of the time.

The present lot, with its two contrasting original colored shades, is a rare variant of the two-light floor lamp model.
