Condition

Overall in very good original condition. The oak surfaces throughout appear to retain their original finish, displaying a superb wood selection and deep rich color. The oak surfaces with minimal surface wear consistent with age and gentle use, showing some occasional light surface scratches, edge wear with a few small associated edge losses, and a few small traces of surface residue and surface soiling in the recessed contours. The proper left arm with two small adjacent surface abrasions to the top located within 5 inches from the arm’s front edge (the larger abrasion 1/8 inch). As expected, there are a few very small and minor stable age cracks to the wood as a result of the natural expansion and contraction of the wood over time. The chair retains the original oak-framed woven-caned seat support. The cane is in good stable condition, and has been further reinforced with a separate masonite peg board which sits directly above the caned support to protect the caning and provide support beneath the seat cushion. With replacement second-generation dark brown leather seat and back cushions. Please note that there is an original period Stickley paper label on the underside of the oak framed seat support. A superb example of this iconic spindle chair design.
