Condition

Please note this lot was acquired from Galerie Vallois and is sold with a signed certificate of authenticity from Galerie Vallois. The metal frame of each is in good condition, showing gentle wear to finish, scattered minor discolorations consistent with the natural aging process of the metal and some light surface dirt. Both the surface dirt and discolorations are concentrated to the recessed portions of the vertical fluting of the decorative scheme. Each sconce is electrically stable and has been illuminated for the exhibition. The shades are later and are based on the lampshade design that would have appeared with these sconces at the time of the production. The shades with some light discoloration, minor fraying along the top aperture and some scattered small tears to the silk fabric throughout. These shades appear to have been used for many years and the fabric has become slightly fragile and therefore the resulting minor tears appear as a result of use and handling. Two of the tears to the fabric are visible in the catalogue illustration to the shade appearing the left of the photograph. The largest of these tears measures approximately one inch in the length.
