Condition

Overall in very good condition. The oak surfaces throughout appear to retain their original finish, with some occasional light surface scratches, minor surface abrasions and edge wear consistent with age and very gentle use. The top proper left scroll which extends from the side of the upper shelf with a re-glued old break at the very end of the scroll. The shelf suspends from two small C-shaped brackets which attach to the wall and conform to the cut-outs at the top of each side. These wall brackets are modern replacements and not the original hanging system for the piece. They do however provide a clever solution to allow the piece to hang without any physical stress to the shelf itself. The shelf displays beautifully in person, with dramatic lyrical lines and exquisitely carved decoration on each side.
