Literature
Felix Marcilhac, Paul Jouve: Peintre, Sculpteur, Animalier 1878-1973, Paris, 2005, pp. 170 and 199 (for related works with gold leaf background)
Condition
Overall very good condition. The applied gold leaf to the background is in very good condition. A few minor reddish discolorations to the extreme upper left edge and upper left corner, which are visible on close inspection. Very minor scattered spots of discoloration in margins, which do not interfere with the picture image. This lot is being offered with a well matched later frame. With a minor chip to the lower central portion of the frame. With rubbing and minor losses to gilt painted portion of the frame, which reveal the red under layer. The frame is an attractive companion to the lithograph.
