Condition
Overall in very good condition. This lamp has documented provenance going back to the period, and by all accounts the shade, base and heat cap all originated together as a unit. The shade with approximately 2 cracks to the glass tiles throughout. The shade appears to have been cleaned (general household maintenance) throughout the years, and as a result there is considerable rubbing and depatination to the interior shade leading, and more gentle rubbing to the exterior shade leading. The patinated bronze “American Indian” base with rubbing and associated losses to the patina, also the result of household cleaning throughout the years. With traces of white cream polish in some of the recessed contours of the base design. If desired the base would benefit from being sensitively cleaned and waxed to revitalize the surfaces. The sockets, paddle switches and matching “American Indian” heat cap all appear to be original to the lamp and undisturbed. The heat cap with a shallow bruise to the top perimeter shoulder and a few minor surface indentations. A striking example of this exceedingly rare desk lamp design, displaying a distinct and satisfying color palette to its strong graphic composition. The lamp displays beautifully in person, imparting a warm rich palette when illuminated.
