Condition

Overall in excellent condition. The large damascene shade is in excellent condition, with no visible condition issues to the shade or top aperture rim. The shade is ornamented with a small hand-carved insect (1/2 inch long) positioned around a small air bubble inclusion to the mid-section of the shade, a clever custom one occasionally sees on damascene shades by the Tiffany firm. The patinated bronze surfaces of the floor base showing light surface wear, some occasional surface scratches and abrasions, and traces of surface soiling and minor discoloration to the patina consistent with age and use. The interior socket and pull chain have been replaced. As is commonly seen with this floor base model, the central socket device is slightly askew and as a result the shade presently sits slightly off center inside the harp. If desired this could be mechanically adjusted by a restorer. The damascene shade, which is intensely iridized, is an extraordinary example displaying a spectacular range of saturated color. The pulled feather decoration is incredibly dynamic and well-defined, imparting the shade with great visual interest and movement. The lamp is dazzling when seen in person, and is far more impactful than seen in the catalogue photography.
