Overall in very good condition. By all accounts the vase and leaf-form gilt bronze stand appear to have originated together as a unit as the proportions and sizing are perfectly aligned. The exterior of the vase with a few light and minor surface scratches, largely the result of surface contact over the years from the bronze stand. The gilt bronze stand is in very good condition, with occasional shallow surface scratches and minimal surface wear and rubbing consistent with age and gentle use. One of the three arms at the connection point to the base with a partial surface fracture that does not extend through the bronze arm and is stable. The exterior and interior surfaces of the vase are subtly iridized, imparting the vase with a soft luminosity. When viewed in person, the body of the vase is a bold cadmium yellow, and the Tel El Amarna decoration on the collar is finely articulated against a bright white ground. The catalogue illustration is slightly dark and does not sufficiently capture this precisely rendered decoration. The gilt bronze base is also more vivid and a brighter shade of gold in person. A striking example with bold color and exquisite decoration.
